Even a double bogey six at the 16th could not spoil Greig Hutcheon’s day as he won the Fairbairn BMW/Largs Golf Club pro-am by two strokes.

The Paul Lawrie Golf Centre player shot a four-under-par 66 which was highlighted by an eagle three at the long 12th and five birdies, at the shot first, second, 15th, 17th and 18th.

His only bogey came at the 10th.

It was Hutch's sixth top 10 finish in seven starts this season but only his second win after an initial success at Deeside Golf Club on May 15.

He won the £1,251 top prize by two strokes from three players: Jason McCreadie (Buchanan Castle), Robert Arnott (Bishopbriggs) and Scott Henderson (Kings Links).

On very quick greens, Hutcheon was not the only one of the leaders to have a double bogey. In fact McCreadie had two of them - at the seventh and the 15th. Arnott's double bogey came at the seventh.

McCreadie led the well-named team of Jason and the Argonauts to victory with a 13-under-par net score of 57. The amateurs were Graham Thom (handicap 10), Roy Coates (9) and Gordon Barraclough (12).
