Ian Ellis has reclaimed the Norfolk PGA match play title from Weston Park’s Michael Few.

The Costessey Park man (right, with Norfolk PGA secretary John Paling) beat Mark Allen of Eaton 5 and 4 in the final at Marriott Sprowston Manor to become champion for the sixth time.

He said: “It was close early on with plenty of birdies but then I pulled clear and closed the match out with a birdie on the 14th.”

Ellis beat Tony Varney of Bawburgh one up in a close semi-final, while Allen was given a walk-over by Lee Patterson (Royal Cromer) who withdrew from the other semi-final with a back injury.

Allen, who did not play in the morning, found it hard to judge the speed of the fast greens in the final.
