John Mutimer obituary

John Mutimer, generally known as Sidney, has died at the age of 77.

He moved from North Oxford Golf Club to join Letchworth Golf Club as head professional in 1966 and stayed there until his retirement at the end of 1998. He was elected as an honorary member of the PGA.

Born in Norfolk, he was a keen supporter of Norwich City Football Club. He had been captain of Hertfordshire PGA and served on their committee.

He was granted honorary membership of Letchworth Golf Club and played until the end of last year.

Malcolm Plumbley, secretary of Hertfordshire PGA, said: “He was a tidy player and a well respected professional. He continued to live locally after he retired.”

The funeral will be at Stopsley Crematorium in Luton on Thursday, February 27 at 9.45am A thanksgiving service will follow at St Pauls Church in Letchworth at 11.15am.
