Langdon thrives with birdie blitz

16/12/2013

South Cerney assistant Ross Langdon produced a glittering display of classic iron play at The Ashley Wood Golf Club to win his first Dorset and Wiltshire PGA medal.

The former Gloucestershire county amateur took victory after repeatedly hitting the ball so close to the pin that he was able to make seven birdies, five over the closing six holes to leave him with a return of six-under-par 63.

This brought a two-shot success over the West’s record-breaking serial 2013 winner Michael Watson (Wessex Golf Centre) and Dan Carter (Upavon).

Dorset county secretary Dave Parsons (Bridport), who seldom plays, produced one of his best returns to share fourth with Barry Forster (North Wilts) and Tim Meisher (Bowood) on 66.
