Lee Brotherhood bowed out of the Warwickshire PGA in style by sharing top spot in the last Winter Alliance meeting of the year.

The Leamington pro, who is moving to neighbouring Worcestershire as part of the Bromsgrove Golf Centre team, scored 38 points at Coventry Golf Club to tie with Wishaw’s Chris Evans.

Nic Gilks survived a minor car scrape on route to claim joint runners up spot alongside Olton’s Charles Haynes a point further back.

Evans, who also won the team event when one of his amateurs holed a monster putt on the 18th for an 88 point total, paid tribute to the organizers.

“Thanks to Phil (Weaver) and his team the course was in very good order and should Spring ever deign to show her face it is clear the course will be magnificent,” he said.

“Congratulations to Lee too in his final appearance. Unfortunately we are losing Lee to Worcestershire as he takes up a new teaching post at Bromsgrove Golf Centre early in April but we wish him well.”
