Local knowledge pays for Brown

Graeme Brown made his local knowledge pay dividends in this week's Scottish Midland Golfers' Alliance competition at his home course, Montrose Links.

Assistant professional Brown shot a five-under-par 64 over the Winter Course to win the leading scratch award by a single shot from Neil Cameron, the Blairgowrie assistant pro.

It was Browns second Alliance win in three weeks. He won by two strokes at Arboath a fortnight ago.

Senior pro Fraser Mann (Carnoustie) and Montrose amateur Jim Strachan shared third place on 67.
