Mansell maintains the winning habit

08/11/2019

Ashley Mansell warmed up for this month's PGA Play-Offs in Turkey with his second successive victory in the Gloucester and Somerset PGA Medal.

The win at Cotswold Hills was the Clevedon pro’s third in five outings in the winter series and followed his success at The Kendleshire where he posted a four-under-par round of 68.

He improved on that this time with a five-under-par return of 67 to finish a shot clear of Burnham & Berrow’s Lee Corfield, Giuseppe Licata of Filton and Chipping Sodbury’s Robin Goodey.

Taking advantage of the benign conditions, Mansell birdied the fifth, seventh, 12th and 13th before dropping a shot at the 16th and then atoning with a birdie, birdie finish.

Meanwhile Corfield’s four-under-par 68, which featured an eagle at the 13th, ensured he increased his lead over his closest pursuer in the Total Triumph Order of Merit, Brickhampton Court’s Ross Langdon.

Langdon, who posted a three-under-par round of 69, finished tied-fifth with Martin Dewhurst.
