McNicoll takes centre stage at Craigielaw

Keir McNicoll won this week's Edinburgh and East of Scotland Golfers' Alliance competition for the Tom Galloway Trophy over the winter course at Craigielaw Golf Club.

The Gullane assistant professional shot a four-under-par 67 with halves of 33-34 to win the trophy and the £100 top pro prize.

Trainee pros filled the 1-2-3 positons with Louis Gaughan (Bathgate) and Cameron Marr (Musselburgh) tying for second place on 69 and earning £70 apiece.

Bigger name pros such as Lloyd Saltman (Archerfield Links) and Andrew Oldcorn (Kings Acre) finished on 71 and 73 respectively.

Alex Webster (Niddry Castle) won the top handicap award with a net 68 off five, finishing a shot ahead of James Silvestro (Musselburgh) who had a net 69 off seven.

Shot of the day belonged to Craigielaw member David Nicolson who aced the eighth hole with a five iron.
