Former PGA champion Andrew Oldcorn (King's Acre) and Longniddry three-handicap amateur Iain Taylor tied for the best scratch score of 70 at this week's Edinburgh and East of Scotland Alliance fixture which drew an entry of 102 members to Broomieknowe Golf Club.

Oldcorn (above) was among the early starters in the big field and for most of the afternoon he looked set to win the Paterson Medal for the best net score overall.

However, late in the day, Taylor matched Oldcorn’s 70 with a superb finish of three birdies at 16, 17 and 18.

Taylor, playing off a handicap of three, not only matched the top scratch score on the day but with a net 67 secured the silverware and will have his name added to The Paterson Medal.

With Oldcorn securing the top scratch prize, runners-up awards went three ways on 71 to Andrew Erskine (Ratho Park), Norman Huguet (Musselburgh) and Duncan Martin (Longniddry). Top assistant was Gordon Hilson (Dunbar) on 74.
