Steve Parry (above) called the shots in the opening PGA North Mansell Finishes Winter Series at St Annes Old Links with a flawless seven-under-par 65 on a day when two players holed in one.

The Bolton-born professional, who runs his own North West Golf Academy at Westhoughton club Hart Common, practised what he preached as he rolled in four birdies on the outward stretch and three more on the way home to win by a stroke.

Surprisingly, none came at any of the par five holes.

"I missed some good chances on them but I was happy with the way I played," said Parry. "I've been working hard on my game and it's beginning to pay-off."

Sharing second place were Mossock Hall's David Shacklady, who's enjoying his most successful season to date; Penwortham's 2011 De Vere North Region champion Ryan O'Neill and Adrian Ambler, from Low Laithes, who emulated him last year; and Chris Sands who represents SkyCaddie.

The ever-consistent Craig Corrigan aced the 170-yard third and 11 handicapper Andrew Walker achieved the feat at the third.

Coincidentally, both were playing in the sponsor's teams.
