PGA Professionals Luke Bone and Luke Willett defend British Speedgolf Pairs title

May 2025, Brocket Hall – PGA Professionals Luke Bone and Luke Willett have once again demonstrated their exceptional skill and conditioning, successfully retaining their title at the 2025 British Speedgolf Pairs Championship. The fast-growing format, which combines traditional golf with speed and endurance, continues to draw a diverse range of competitors, including an increasing number of PGA Members.

Bone, Head Coach at Farnham Golf Club and recognised for coaching top talent such as Women’s Amateur Champion Lottie Woad, joined forces with fellow PGA Professional Luke Willett under the team name Sub 17. The duo tackled the 18-hole Palmerston Course at Brocket Hall (par 73) in just 43 minutes and 49 seconds, carding a round of 83 for a winning Speedgolf Score of 126:49.

Speedgolf merges the number of strokes taken with the total time to complete the round, rewarding both their score and physical stamina. The Pairs format brings an additional layer of complexity through Foursomes, where each team shares one ball, alternates shots and runs between them.

Far from a leisurely stroll, Brocket Hall’s rolling terrain and demanding layout pushed every team to their physical and strategic limits. Sub 17’s sprint to the finish after holing their final putt was a fitting climax.

Their victory adds to an impressive run of form, including back-to-back British Speedgolf Pairs titles and their recent triumph at the 2024 World Speedgolf Championships in Japan, where they secured the World Team Pairs title representing Great Britain.

The championship also saw standout performances from other PGA Professionals. Scott Bailey of Porters Park Golf Club paired with Chris Fitt, Chief Executive of Moor Park and a former professional, to secure a well-earned runner-up finish.

Meanwhile, Elliott Banks of Highwoods Golf Club teamed up with fellow PGA Professional Jody September (pictured) for a strong showing of their own.

The next event on the calendar is the British Speedgolf Solo Championship, returning to Sunningdale Heath on 7 September 202 with Bone and Willett now set to compete as rivals in the solo event.
