Powerade qualifier hit by weather

12/05/2014

Heavy rain and a waterlogged course forced the postponement of the Scottish qualifying round of the Powerade PGA Assistants’ Championship qualifier at Auchterarder.

The qualifier has been rescheduled for Monday, June 2.

A tournament spokesman said: “There was heavy rain from 5pm last night, and while it eased a bit overnight it came back at about 6am and topped it back up to where it was previously.

“The course was already pretty soft anyway and it was just impossible to get play finished today so we had no option but to postpone it.”

Entries will be re-opened for any Scottish Assistants’ who wish to play in the new qualifier with the closing date being Monday, May 19. A new draw for play will then be made on the following day (Tuesday, May 20).

All players have until Monday, May 19 to withdraw their entry if necessary.

The normal withdrawal process will then be in operation from the new closing date.

The 50 plus strong field will be competing for a place in the £32,500 FootJoy supported final at Coventry Golf Club on June 11-13.
