Runaway victory for Talbott at Orsett

Mark Talbott produced a stunning Stableford round of 41 points that included five birdies in the PGA in England (Essex) better ball event at Orsett.

It was a runaway win for Thorpe Hall assistant Talbott. His closest rivals were joint runners-up Mark Stokes (Rayleigh Golf Range) and Jason Levermore (Channels) with 36 points.

Robbie Coles (Maylands), who has considerable experience on the European Tour, and Thorpe Hall head professional Johnnie Fryatt signed for 35 points.

David Wood, now settled in as head professional at Orsett after many years at St Clere’s Hall, had 33 points. Essex PGA captain Mark Bishop of Toot Hill took seventh spot with 32 points.

Talbott and Francis Garland-Collins won the team pro-am with 41 points. Second place was settled on count back. Bishop and Will Kerridge were runners-up with Wood and Orsett club captain David Turner third. Both pairs had 40 points.

The best am-am team was Colin Reynolds and Ken Richardson with 42 points.
