Richard Sadler (Killiow) enjoyed a profitable day in the Cornwall Professional Golfers’ Alliance meeting at Perranporth as he won the professional award and claimed second place in the pairs alongside Will Sumner (Carlyon Bay).

Sadler (above) returned a two-under-par round worth 38 points two ahead of Dominic Rehaag (China Fleet ) who carded 36 points on his first Alliance outing of the season. Scott Richards (West Cornwall) returned 35 with Antony Nash (St Enodoc), Jamie O'Hara (Lanhydrock) and Katie Rule, who has moved from St Enodoc to Tehidy Park, sharing fourth on 34.

A total of 76 players were fortunate that light early rained cleared to make way for a bright and breezy day at the tough links course. Home professional Derek Michell was unable to play because of a wrist injury so he presented the awards.

Grant Slater (Trevose) followed his success at Saunton by winning the pairs with young  amateur Jack Perkins from China Fleet on 41 points, beating Sadler and Sumner on countback.

Nigel Connolly and Rob Cook (Bowood) also carded 41, one better than Rehaag and John Sanders (China Fleet) and Richards playing with Gary Andrew (Truro).
