Seven PGA Professionals will make their R&A Swingzone debut at the 2020 Open Championship at Royal St.Georges.

A 25-strong team has been selected for next year’s event where free 15-minute sessions will be delivered to the public across eight days in Kent.

At this year’s Open Championship at Royal Portush in Northern Ireland, the Swingzone team of 23 PGA Professionals delivered more than 2,700 golf lessons.

“To be selected for next year is a long-awaited fantasy fulfilled,” said Jak Hamblett. “I applied to coach at The Open to gain experience of coaching on an international level. I'm so happy and excited to have the opportunity of impacting hundreds of people, in just a few days. It's going to be tiring but fulfilling."

Among the new faces is Jamie Savory, who commented: “I honestly cannot wait. I'm looking forward to working alongside some great coaches, not to mention spending the week at The Open. It's going to be a surreal experience that I'm sure I will never forget.”

James Harraway will also be making his R&A Swingzone debut. He added: “It has always been on my bucket list to do and the R&A Swingzone. I am excited to spend a week coaching the spectators, watching some golf and spending time with some friends of mine who have also been selected to coach at Royal St. Georges.”

There will also be a record number of eight female coaches at the R&A Swingzone including debutant and 2019 PGA Female Assistant of the Year award Fame Tate.

Tate added: “I feel absolutely delighted, proud and honoured to be part of the Swingzone team at the Open and it will be a pleasure to work with a fantastic team of coaches.

“I applied for the role because I am extremely passionate about giving all levels of golfer the opportunity to come and try the sport or for existing golfers to improve their current skills.  I have the skills in both the mental and physical attributes of golf, with an excellent and current understanding of the golf swing.”

The full complement of PGA pros at Royal Troon is: Marcus Webb, Jak Hamblett, James Harraway, David Bartlett, Ian Bailey, Alistair Welsher, David Playdon, Alan Bradshaw, Jamie Savory, Matt Stables, Peter Ball, Kevin Caplehorn, Paul Warner, Paul Warner, Marcus Bell, Richard Shaw, Joanne Taylor, Alison Perkins, Sophie Daws, Emma Brown, Alex Mollin, Fame Tate, Tiffany MacKenzie, Sarah Bennett, David Gleeson.
