Seventeen qualify for East Herts Classic

Mark Alexander of MA Golf, a member of Middlesex PGA, and Alex Beckett of Barnham Broom led the qualifiers for the Weston Homes plc/East Herts Classic at Stockbrook Golf and Country Club.

Both had rounds of two-under-par 70. Alexander had five birdies and an eagle at the 474-yard par five 18th hole. Beckett had five birdies.

The only other eagle came from Haverhill's Ollie Rush at the 486-yard par five 10th hole.

Third place was shared by the unattached Darren Close and James Sibbles of The Grove with two over par 74.

The leading 17 players, those with seven-over-par or better, secured a place in the Classic on July 2 and 3. It will be the fourth of six Virgin Atlantic order of merit event in the East this year.
