Mark Stokes claimed a magnificent double win at the Essex PGA pro-am over the Old Course at Gog Magog Golf Club.

The Rayleigh Golf Range man won the individual professional prize after scoring a two-under-par round of 68 that included five birdies.

This left him two shots ahead of runner-up Terry Moncur (Langdon Hills). Third place was shared by Mark Baker (Colchester) and Jason Levermore (Channels) with rounds of 72.

Stokes, who missed out in his bid to secure a PGA European Seniors Tour card in the qualifier in Portugal earlier this month, also won the team event with amateurs Ken Richardson and Malcolm Pryor.

They beat Steven Hambling (Braintree), Ash Tate and Mark Reeves on count back with 77 points. Third team prize went to Chris Cutchie (Colchester) with Andrew Smith and Mike Lapham with 75 points.
