Paul Streeter overcame Sam Dawson by one hole in a gruelling final day at the Lincolnshire Match Play Championship.

The Lincoln Golf Centre man was in fine form during the two-day event at Boston Golf Club, but he was pushed all the way by an impressive Dawson, who was playing over his home course.

Streeter’s victory came after a day in which both finalists had been tested to their limits.

A titanic battle in his opponents semi-final threatened to steal the show, as Dawson was matched blow-for-blow by Glenmuir PGA Professional Dan Greenwood (Forest Pines).

The Boston pro eventually came out on top at the 25th hole.

Meanwhile Streeter’s tussle with Paul Bradshaw (Gainsborough) was similarly close, with just one hole separating the pair at the end of their round.

Both men refused to relent with a place in the showpiece almost secure, but a seven-under-par round was just enough to give Streeter a one-hole win.
