The Manx Classic, the jewel in the PGA North Pro-Am crown for more than 30 years, will swing into action at Ramsey on September 20-21.

It traditionally attracts a strong field of European Tour and regional professionals who link up with three amateurs in each team.

Chris Crowder, from Merseyside club Lee Park, is hoping this year to join the exclusive group of four players who have won the title twice.

The most recent was Lancashire-based Paul Eales while the earliest to complete the double was his European Tour contemporary Derrick Cooper from Birchwood.

Sandwiched between them were Pleasington's Ged Furey, who has since sadly retired from tournament golf on medical grounds, and PGA Cup player Simon Edwards, the Windermere pro.

Ramsey, the event's home for three years, is a beautiful setting and the course is considered as being the best presented one on the island.

Entry forms are available via the PGA In England and Wales (North) section.
