Triple tie at Essendon

There was a triple tie for the individual prize at the East Region Championship Pro-Am at Essendon Country Club.

James Ruebotham (Welwyn Garden City), Mitch Kierstenson (Penfold Park) and Daniel Field (East Herts) all signed for four-under-par 68.

Kierstenson, with European Senior Tour experience, dropped one shot and had five birdies. Field, whose putting let him down in the PGA East Region Championship, had five birdies and an eagle in a round that also saw two bogeys and a double. Ruebotham had three birdies and an eagle.

Nick Pateman of Pinner Hill was fourth at three-under-par with a sequence of six birdies between the third and 10th holes in a run that also included a double.

Jason Levermore (Channels) and Andrew Pestell (Chelmsford) were both two-under-par with David Smith (Chadwell Springs), Mark Stokes (Rayleigh Golf Range), Thomas Phillips (Hadley Wood) and Barrie Trainor (Old Joe’s Golf Range) at one-under.

Stokes brought home the winning team of Dominic Adams, Glen Langenberg and Steve Maycock with 20-under-par 124. The runners-up were Steve Cipa (South Essex Golf Centre) with Kevin Lye, Ed Martin and Sonny Martin with 126. Third place was taken by Field, Paul Holding, Pierre Bleriot and Steve Jackson with 127.
