Turpin triumphs at Tehidy

17/10/2013

Paul Turpin (Carlyon Bay) won the professional prize at the Cornwall Alliance meeting at Tehidy Park with a round of two-under-par 70 worth 39 points.

He finished two clear of Richard O'Hanlon (The Point at Polzeath) with Dan Wood (Ivy Leaf), Gary Lenaghan (Trevose) and Richard Sadler (Killiow) a further point behind.

Lenaghan celebrated winning the pairs with his amateur partner Mike Hayes (Trevose) with 41 points.

They beat St Enodoc pro Katie Rule and Tehidy amateur Ryan Reed on countback with three players sharing third on 40.

They were this year’s Alliance captain Paul Martin (Carlyon Bay) and Spike Drew (Truro), Turpin and Graham Hawken (Carlyon Bay), O'Hanlon and Andrew Turner (The Point at Polzeath).

On a cloudy, breezy but dry day 76 players took part. The next gathering is at Launceston next Wednesday.
