Alastair Webster tamed a wild wind to win the leading scratch prize at this week's Midland Golfers' Alliance W H Miller Team Competition at Monifieth Links.

The Edzell Golf Club PGA Professional finished for two-under-par 69, three shots ahead of joint runners-up Graeme Brown, the Montrose assistant who won twice during February, and C Armstrong (Burntisland), also an assistant pro.

Chris Westland (Alloa), playing off 11, won the handicap prize with a net 70 and led his team of Graeme Brown (Montrose) and James Wilson (Dunfermline) (14) to first place in the team event.

Shot of the day came from 92 year old James Edmiston, Burntisland Golf House Club member, who holed in one at the 191yd fifth hole, using his driver.
