It’s an especially exciting time to join us, as we prepare for the opening of the 5-star Hawthorn Hotel & Spa in March 2026. This luxury addition will transform us into one of Ireland’s premier golf and leisure resorts, providing a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious PGA trainee professional to grow their career.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To support the Director of Golf in delivering a 5* golf experience for members and guests. This role will focus on retail operations, member and guest engagement, and developing coaching and custom fitting services to enhance the overall offering at Galway Bay Golf.

KEY DELIVERABLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide 5* customer service in the Pro Shop, ensuring the highest standards of presentation and hospitality.
  • Assist in daily retail operations including merchandising, stock management, point of sale, and financial procedures.
  • Support the professional team with golf tuition, custom fitting sessions, and the running of junior and academy programmes.
  • Maintain accurate data for lessons, fittings, and member activities.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of golf events and club competitions.
  • Support outside services and overall presentation of facilities when required.
  • Act as an ambassador for Galway Bay Golf Resort, actively promoting the club and its services.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Registered PGA Assistant Professional (or qualified PGA Professional).
  • Retail, merchandising, and point-of-sale experience within a golf environment.
  • Coaching experience across a range of abilities, ideally including juniors.
  • Familiarity with golf booking and retail software (e.g., BRS, GolfGenius, Touch Office)
  • Flexibility to work weekends, early mornings and evenings as required.
